From 15–28 June 2026, the 4th edition of the Summer School will take place in Slovenia, offering an in-depth exploration of sustainable approaches to the built environment through the European timber circular economy.

Set in Slovenia’s forest-rich context, the programme follows the entire value chain — “from forest floor to living room floor” — spanning forestry, design, manufacturing, and construction. Participants will visit forests, production facilities, construction sites, and exemplary buildings, alongside selected cultural and historical sites that situate sustainability within a broader European context.

The course focuses on Europe’s transition from a linear to a circular economy, highlighting strategies to reduce waste, extend material lifecycles, and decarbonize the building sector. The New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative is presented through real-world examples, demonstrating how sustainability, beauty, and inclusiveness are shaping both existing and new buildings.

The programme is led by faculty from the University of Primorska and Oregon State University (USA), and is organised by UP FAMNIT, UP IAM, and the NEBAP Hub, in collaboration with Oregon State University.
